MONTH BY MONTHMid-July–mid-September: Going-to-the-Sun Road is fully open, high trails are snow-free and wildflowers peak.
July–August is very busy; vehicle reservations or timed entry have applied on parts of Going-to-the-Sun Road, so check current rules. Go early or late in the day.
Snow can linger on high trails into July and return in September. Wildfire smoke is common in August, and the Going-to-the-Sun Road closes for winter.
